It was quite a great experience when we saw an amazing view of Buddh International Circuit as the sunset, and Mercedes Benz raced on the track to complete 24 hours of record with fitted with JK Tyre UX1. JK Tyre has done this before with Audi, Hyundai, TATA & Maruti and whenever it comes to Endurance, JK Tyre has always been there.
JK Tyre powered the 24 Hour Performance Drive with Mercedes Benz and overdrive where it completed astonishing 428 laps in a 24 hour and now proudly hold the National record of covering 2,200km clocked in 24 hours at a Formula 1 track. This 24-hour test was done to push the limits & check as to how far a production luxury car can perform on commercially available premium tyres. It’s a test of how far the pit crews, track support and drivers can stretch themselves before exhaustion takes over. The endurance run was done at the Buddh International Circuit, a world-class F1 circuit to attempt a run never tried before in India. The track is 5.1Km long with 16 hard corners. This track is one of the most challenging tracks due to elevations & corners. The variables of the track also changes due to outside weather conditions & make the run more challenging. Extra lighting to support vision during night was set up for running two cars non-stop for 24 hours.
JK Tyre in association with Mercedes Benz took to the track this time for the endurance run. It was amazing to see JK Tyre along with OVERDRIVE attempting to set speed records over a 24-hour period this Sunday i.e. 23rd September 2018 at the Buddh International Circuit in Mercedes Benz cars. Mercedes-Benz fitted with JK-Tyre UX1 ran for 24 hours at the wheel with OVERDRIVE and certified by Limca Book of Records. JK Tyre has done an endurance run with Overdrive wherein they ran 2 Mercedes all fitted with JK Tyre. And it seems like this kind of record-setting is new in our country.
It was a new experience as cars with JK Tyre have covered 2200 km in 24 hours which implies an average speed, inclusive of all stops for fuel, tyre changes, and service, of 91.67 kmph. This is the most amount of distance covered in an F1 track in India ever. This car was just cruising around the track, running at optimum speed and temperature. And they took care of everything from lap times to tyre wear, brake pad wear, overall exhaustion of everyone involved and even the safety of the drivers.
Drivers Mira, Chittesh, Diljeet, Anmol Rampal and Raghav Sharma were involved where each of the drivers was scheduled in for one-and-a-half hours of driving without any breaking, with everyone needing to put in two stints, or more. They all had prior experience of the track. Some of the racers even had experience being part of a 24-hour run before. None of them had ever attempted this long a stretch at a Formula 1 track like the BIC, where the speeds, and forces on the body, which were much higher than at any other racetrack.
As the run came to an end, the Mercedes duo crossed the finish line for the last time. With all this, we can say that that JK Tyre now have the national record of 2,200km clocked in 24 hours at a Formula 1 track. After the 24 hour run, the car and tyres all were in perfect condition. It was really a thrilling experience.
